Proper maintenance will help prevent you being without your hearing aids and will reduce ongoing costs.
You will, on average, wear your hearing aids for 12 hours a day, every day for the next 5 years or so. This equates to 22,000 hours of use in a warm, humid ear canal, exposed to wax and skin particles. Please maintain them!
Batteries: Buy online at £1.40 per pack. Click here to buy now.
Recycle your Hearing Aid Batteries: Respect the envirnoment please. Find your local collection point, or save them for us to do so.
Wax guards: if your hearing aid is not working PLEASE CHANGE THE WAX GUARD BEFORE CALLING US. All hearing aid wax guards can be bought online here. Call us if you are not sure which type you need.
Speaker wire tips / domes: These must changed regularly (bi-monthly max) to avoid them coming off in the ear canal. Long wear time will soften the grip of the domes. Also change the wax-guards housed under the dome if they have become blocked. Tips and domes can be bought here.
Moisture protection: we strongly advise wearers to use moisture drying-pots, especially when on holiday, for sports, or camping etc. We have a high quality plug-in dehumidifier here, or you can purchase cheaper silicone crystals here.
Infections: For people prone to ear infections (i.e. swimmers) we recommend the use of an electronic dry-pot with a UVC lamp (these kill 99.9% of all bacteria). These are approx £60 and can be bought here.
Microphone maintenance: The microphone sits outside the ear. Please use the brush provided to gently clean the microphone covers to remove any build up of dust / dandruff etc.
Battery doors: battery doors are fragile but are chargeable if broken. Support the door with your thumb when inserting batteries.
Vent holes: use the thin wire tool provided to unblock the vent if your aid has one.
We recommend the use of sterets injection swabs (from Boots) for cleaning ITE shells.
