'Great Nordic' (GN) was founded in 1895; 'Resound' was founded (as Danavox) in 1943 by Gert Rosenstand.
The GN Resound Group now employs 4600 people worldwide, with headquarters in Denmark and is listed
on the Copenhagen stock exchange. In 2003 Resound launched the first fully open fitting hearing aid in the
Resound Air (also known as the Contact Air). Resound then went on to launch
the smallest RIC hearing aid in the Resound Dot, and the smallest remote microphone
hearing aid in the Resound BE. Currently Resound have a superb product in the Alera
which offers true wireless connectivity to your television for improved listening, and are the only
company to offer 'remote microphone' options (image) for reduced wind noise.

Phonak are a Swiss company founded in 1947. Their worldwide HQ is in Stafa,
Switzerland, and UK HQ is in Warrington where all their custom products are made.
Phonak are a global leader in digital hearing aids and FM assitive listening devices. Phonak are owned by Sonova Holding AG (who also
own Unitron). Having released their first fully digital hearing aid in 1999,
Phonak now have one of the world's smallest Bluetooth compatible hearing aids - the
Phonak Audeo Smart.

Oticon are a
Danish company founded in 1904 by Hans Demant with worldwide HQ in
Copenhagen, Denmark and owned by William Demant Holding. Their UK base is in Hamilton, Scotland, where
all their custom hearing aids are made using the latest 3-dimensional modelling and laser moulding
technology. Oticon released their first fully digital hearing aids in 1996, and are now one of
the top three digital hearing aid technology developers.

Widex are a family owned Danish company was founded in 1956 by Eric Westermann and Christian
Topholm (both formerly Oticon employees). With a new massive HQ and development centre in Allerød,
just north of Copenhagen, Widex now employ 2400 employees worldwide serving 100 countries and having 10% global market share in the private supply sector (ranked 6th in the Global Market share). Their UK base
is now in Warrington. Widex released the world's first fully digital
hearing aid in the Widex Senso and now have the world's smallest
receiver-in-canal in the Widex Passion.

Widex Passion Colours
Unitron are a Canadian company founded 40 years ago, now owned by Sonova Holding AG with worldwide HQ in Kitchener,
Ontario. UK base is in Warrington in the same HQ as Phonak, where all custom in-ear hearing aids are made. Both companies have
different technology development strategies but a shared vested interest from the Sonova group meaning they have a forceful backing.
Unitron employs 600 people worldwide and distributes into 70 countries.

'Siemens Hearing' is a German company, are they the largest supplier of hearing aids worldwide.
With the forceful backing of the Siemens Group they are naturally amongst the most innovative of
all leading hearing aid suppliers and pioneered a majority of the technology being used by other
manufacturers now. Werner von Siemens developed the Phonophor hearing instrument more than a century ago,
and Siemens released their first fully digital hearing aids in 1996.

Starkey are an American company, first established in 1967 by William Austin by simply providing a hearing aid repair service. Starkey are now the largest manufacturer of hearing aids in the U.S and are one of the leaders in the European market. Worldwide HQ is in Minnesota and UK HQ is in Stockport, near Manchester. Starkey entered the digital hearing age in 1999 and now strive to compete with the best of the European suppliers.

Bernafon are a Swiss company founded in 1946 under the name Gfellar Ag.
Now owned by William Demant Holding, with worldwide HQ and development / research centre in Bern, Switzerland, and UK base
in Hamilton Scotland where all their custom hearing aids are made. Bernafon are
the smaller represented in the UK of the two Demant companies but none the less
have a great product portfolio and offer an Innovative technology with single
