GN ReSound Hearing Aids

GN ReSound 'Great Nordic' (GN) was founded in 1895; 'Resound' was founded (as Danavox) in 1943 by Gert Rosenstand. The GN Resound Group now employs 4600 people worldwide, with headquarters in Denmark and is listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange. In 2003 Resound launched the first fully open fitting hearing aid in the Resound Air (also known as the Contact Air). Resound then went on to launch the smallest RIC hearing aid in the Resound Dot, and the smallest remote microphone hearing aid in the Resound BE. Currently Resound have a superb product in the Alera which offers true wireless connectivity to your television for improved listening, and are the only company to offer 'remote microphone' options (image) for reduced wind noise.

Phonak Phonak are a Swiss company founded in 1947. Their worldwide HQ is in Stafa, Switzerland, and UK HQ is in Warrington where all their custom products are made. Phonak are a global leader in digital hearing aids and FM assitive listening devices. Phonak are owned by Sonova Holding AG (who also own Unitron). Having released their first fully digital hearing aid in 1999, Phonak now have one of the world's smallest Bluetooth compatible hearing aids - the Phonak Audeo Smart.

Widex Widex are a family owned Danish company was founded in 1956 by Eric Westermann and Christian Topholm (both formerly Oticon employees). With a new massive HQ and development centre in Allerød, just north of Copenhagen, Widex now employ 2400 employees worldwide serving 100 countries and having 10% global market share in the private supply sector (ranked 6th in the Global Market share). Unitron Unitron are a Canadian company founded 40 years ago, now owned by Sonova Holding AG with worldwide HQ in Kitchener, Ontario. UK base is in Warrington in the same HQ as Phonak, where all custom in-ear hearing aids are made. Both companies have different technology development strategies but a shared vested interest from the Sonova group meaning they have a forceful backing. Unitron employs 600 people worldwide and distributes into 70 countries.
