hearing test Procedure
All hearing
tests are free and no-obligation.
All hearing tests
are undertaken by qualified
Hearing
Aid Dispensers all of whom
must be registered with the
Health Professions Council.
Hearing
test appointments are generally carried out in the comfort of your own
home, or other suitable place of your choice, using portable audiometric
hearing testing equipment. Some of our affiliate
hearing aid audiologists do work from hearing
test centres and we can find the closest one to
you if preferred.
Hearing tests normally take 45 minutes to 1 hour,
allowing for:
-
A brief chat
about your medical history regarding
your hearing problems, previous hearing aid usage,
and what prompted a hearing test.
-
Visual examination of the ears to check for any abnormalities or blockages.
-
Air conduction (AC) hearing test
(compulsory) to determine the 'degree' of loss, using earphones resting
on the ear.
Sound signals of varying frequency/pitch are sent
into the ear canal to the inner ear to determine the faintest sounds that you can hear.
-
Bone conduction (BC) hearing test
(compulsory) to
determine what the 'cause' of the
hearing loss is, using a vibrating pad sitting
on the bone/skull directly behind the ear.
Sound signals of varying frequency/pitch are
passed through the bone directly to the inner ear to measure the faintest levels
sounds you can hear.
-
Loudness
hearing test (not compulsory) to determine if you are
hypersensitive to loud
sounds, so that any subsequent fitting of hearing aids can be programmed accordingly
to prevent further damage from loud
sounds.
-
Clear explanation of the
hearing tests results.
-
Unbiased recommendation of the most suitable
hearing aid solution to suit your budget
and lifestyle.
-
Placement of an order should you wish.
No deposit is required at this stage.
Payment is taken on fitting of your
new hearing aids
- this
is typically two weeks after the hearing
test appointment. We prefer cheque or
internet transfer, but can accept cash or
card.
During the fitting we will digitally
programme the
hearing aids
and give you advice on how to use them and
look after them to ensure they last you
well.
A follow up call will be made 2-3 weeks
later to ensure you are fully satisfied with
your new digital hearing aids.
All hearing aids have a 30-day full money
back guarantee. This period will be extended
to 60 days for clients experiencing
difficulties.
Ongoing
aftercare,
advice and adjustments are included in the
purchase price.
