Welcome to our latest blog post where we delve into the revolutionary world of Auracast and LE ‘Audio’ Bluetooth and the amazing impact it will have on hearing aids, helping you hear better in many areas of your life.
It is not often something happens in the industry where we can say this WILL change things massively.
Auracast and LE Audio Bluetooth is poised to transform the hearing aid landscape – and people WILL be saying this has changed their lives.
Both are a new development of BLE Bluetooth streaming technology (BLE = Bluetooth Low Energy) – the fundamental development of which allows multiple users (of wireless hearing aids or headphones) to connect to a single streamed signal – whether that be from a laptop, or in a theatre, or a train station tannoy. And it will work simply and quickly.
LE ‘Audio’ Bluetooth is part of the new Bluetooth 5.3 standard that now enables higher quality, low energy, two-way audio streaming between personal devices, and multiple connections (more than one person at any time – for example a husband and wife with different hearing aids will be able to connect to an LE Audio laptop to stream a zoom meeting.
Auracast is the new social broadcasting development of LE ‘Audio’ Bluetooth that will become ubiquitous in offering a crystal-clear streamed audio listening experience in the social or business world to multiple listeners, whether they be wearing Bluetooth hearing aids or headphones. So you walk into a theatre, scan a QR code and can tune into the streamed signal of the performance.
EVERYWHERE – Not yet, but one day soon, this technology will be everywhere, and in every device, and it will transform the lives of hearing aid users.
It is still very early days, but you will use LE Audio at home and anywhere that streams or announces audio signal.
So far iPhone 11 onwards, Samsung G23, and Google Pixel 7 and 8, all use LE Audio and therefore hearing aid wearers can make handsfree calls.
Some new laptops are now LE Audio compatible and will allow hearing aid users to quickly connect and stream direct, to multiple users if required.
Televisions will start to include LE Audio / Auracast – and you will be able to connect direct – without needing a tv streamer device.
Auracasts’ versatility will allow it to be used in a multitude of outdoor places to help you hear better:
You will literally be able to tap into media streaming anywhere and everywhere – when LE Audio Bluetooth is included in new electronics devices and media streaming outlets.
Anyone who has streamed their TV or a mobile phone call will know how streamed signals help them hear better.

Here is the good thing – it will be VERY easy to use. For social streaming it could be as simple as connecting to a Wi-fi or scanning a QR code with your mobile phone.
So, in a typical day, you could walk into your lounge and connect instantly to your laptop, or TV, answer a phone-call handsfree, and then go to the gym and connect direct to the TV whilst on the treadmill, and go to the theatre and connect to the actors on stage. Streamed signals offer better clarity – so this will be a game changer for hearing aid wearers.
