The bad news – this phone is now discontinued by Panasonic!!  –  but you can still find them in stock in some places online –  try John Lewis and ebay.

(Note also look at the KX-PRW130 if available anywhere)

Introduction

In the world of communication technology, the Panasonic KX-PRW120 stands out as a remarkable innovation, especially for those using hearing aids. At Crystal Hearing, we understand the importance of clear, accessible communication for everyone. This is why we’re excited to explore how this phone, in combination with the Panasonic Smartphone Connect app, can be a game-changer for hearing aid wearers.

The Panasonic KX-PRW120: An Overview

The Panasonic KX-PRW120 is more than just a standard landline phone. It’s a modern, feature-rich device designed to cater to the diverse needs of its users. With its sleek design and intuitive interface, it offers a premium experience. But what truly sets it apart is its compatibility with hearing aids and its seamless integration with the Panasonic Smartphone Connect app.

Connectivity with the Panasonic Smartphone Connect App

The Smartphone Connect app is a revolutionary feature that allows users to link their mobile devices with the KX-PRW120. This connectivity provides several benefits:

  1. Direct Call Handling: Manage your landline calls directly from your smartphone, offering convenience and ease of use.
  2. Enhanced Audio Control: Adjust call volume and settings through the app, tailoring the audio to your specific hearing needs.
  3. Visual Caller ID and Alerts: For those with hearing impairments, visual cues on your smartphone can be a significant aid.

How It Benefits Hearing Aid Wearers

Hearing aid compatibility is a critical aspect of the Panasonic KX-PRW120. Your hearing aids must be ASHA (Android) or MFi (iPhone) compatible.

Here’s how it stands to benefit hearing aid users:

  1. Customizable Audio Settings: Adjust the frequency and volume to match your hearing aid’s settings, ensuring optimal audio clarity.
  2. Reduced Background Noise: The phone is designed to minimize background noise, which is essential for those with hearing impairments.

Real-Life Applications

Imagine being able to answer your landline calls directly from your smartphone, adjusting the settings to suit your hearing needs, and enjoying clear, uninterrupted conversations. The Panasonic KX-PRW120 makes this a reality for hearing aid users.

Here is a summary from the client of ours who found these and suggested them:

In my case I use a Samsung S10e.  This pairs directly with both of my Oticon Real aids enabling me to hear both ringing tones and telephone audio directly into the Has. I still use the mobile phone’s microphone to speak with the other party.

The Panasonic DECT phones are just like standard home cordless phones but with a difference – the DECT base station, as well as being connected to the landline also connect by Wifi to my home router. This Wifi connection enables landline telephone conversation data to be connected to the mobile phone which is also connected by Wifi to my home router.

A free app from Panasonic running on the mobile phone then transforms the mobile phone into an additional DECT handset, thus anything that you can do with the DECT cordless handset you can now also do with the mobile phone.

In short the facilities available via the app include:

Incoming landline calls produce ringing tones into the HAs

Incoming calls can be answered by a button in the app

Calls can be terminated by a button on the app

Calls can be transferred both to and from the regular DECT handset(s).

For outgoing calls via the app a choice is presented to make the call via the landline or the mobile.

Integration between the contacts list of the DECT base station and that of the mobile is available.

Answering machine functions can be accessed via the app.

Conclusion

The Panasonic KX-PRW120, in conjunction with the Panasonic Smartphone Connect app, presents a significant advancement in telecommunication for hearing aid wearers. It symbolizes a step towards more inclusive technology.
