“Excellent service. Microsuction was painless and results great. Can definitely recommend. My partner was happy too, as he was treated for free on two for one deal”.

Micro-suction – by carefully removing ear wax using a suction pump. This is particularly efficient for firm, but not solid, wax.

Ear Syringing – by exerting a fine spray of warm water at an angle into the ear to flush out soft wax.

Hook removal – use of special forceps or hooks to extract stubborn solid wax lumps and dead skin.

Note: your local GP surgery will likely use ‘propulse irrigation’ – this can also be effective for softer wax if undertaken in a safe manner.

  • Your local GP surgery – free, but long waiting times of 1-4 weeks, and principally only use the pro-pulse irrigation method. See above.
  • A local hearing care centre – quicker appointments, safe technique and very effective.

Firstly, micro-suction is pain free and 99% effective – we very rarely fail.

Use of ear-drops beforehand is not normally necessary. We will advise if you need to use drops to complete the procedure.

The equipment includes a suction pump, a length of tubing connected to a suction probe, and a small funnel placed into the ear canal.

The operative wears a pair of magnifying surgical glasses with a headlamp to get a good look into the ear.

The wax is then removed by suction by placing the probe carefully through the funnel.

The process can be very quick if the wax is loose. If the wax is very soft then it can be easier to remove via gentle syringing. If the wax is very hard then 2 or even 3 visits may be required, but we only charge for one visit. For very hard wax it may be necessary to use Otex ear drops.
