Primarily we work from the ear wax removal clinic in Marlow

Home appointments subject to availability of appointment times.

Areas: Maidenhead, Reading, Slough, High Wycombe, Windsor, Henley, Wokingham, Bracknell, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire.

Micro-suction – by carefully removing ear wax using a suction pump. Good for harder wax lumps.  See below.

Ear Syringing – by exerting a fine spray of warm water into the ear to flush softer wax only.

Hook removal – use of special forceps or hooks to extract stubborn wax lumps and dead skin.

Note: your local GP surgery will likely use ‘propulse irrigation’ which can be a bit more forceful; and when not done correctly can has led to perforated ear drums.

  • Your local GP surgery – free, but long waiting times of 1-4 weeks, and principally only use the pro-pulse irrigation method. See above.
  • A local audiologist / hearing aid dispenser –  quick appointments, safe technique and very effective.

We are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Firstly, micro-suction is pain free and 99% effective – we very rarely fail.

Not of ear-drops beforehand is not normally necessary.

The equipment includes a suction pump, a length of tubing connected to a suction probe, and a small funnel placed into the ear canal.

The operative wears a pair of magnifying surgical glasses with a headlamp to get a good look into the ear.

The wax is then removed by suction by placing the probe carefully through the funnel.

The process can be very quick if the wax is loose. If the wax is very soft then it can be easier to remove via gentle syringing. If the wax is very hard then 2 or even 3 visits may be required, but we only charge for one visit. For very hard wax it may be necessary to use Otex ear drops.
