Tinnitus & Tinnitus Suppressing Hearing Aids
Tinnitus is defined as ‘the perception of sound in the absence of a stimulus’.
Or to the layman – ‘an annoying noise in the ears or head especially when in quiet environments’.
Tinnitus ‘noise’ can vary widely. Most commonly it is a high pitched ringing tone, but it can also be a white noise and even music.
Most people will experience tinnitus occasionally, but some people suffer from persistent tinnitus which can become very depressing and even suicidal.
Unfortunately the real mechanical cause of tinnitus is still not fully understood, but most often tinnitus is associated with nerve related hearing loss.
TINNITUS CANNOT BE CURED – BUT IT CAN BE MANAGED
There are different methods to assist people with tinnitus, including tinnitus maskers and cognitive therapy. We can assist those sufferers who also have a hearing loss by using tinnitus suppressing digital hearing aids, which are now offered by most leading manufacturers.
Tinnitus suppressing hearing aids present a more comfortable background sound to mask over annoying high pitch tinnitus sounds present in the ear. Tinnitus hearing aids can be linked direct to your phone so that you can choose your own soothing tones to mask your tinnitus. Please ask us for details.
There are some differences in the technology offered and we suggest you contact us for a free hearing test to discuss in detail what may suit your needs.
Lady with loss in one ear only and very bad tinnitus (April 2015)
Thank you so much for all your help in finding me a hearing aid and Com Pilot, that would not only help with my hearing loss but also help calm my severe Tinnitus.
I have unsuccessfully been trying to get a hearing aid that could produce a Tinnitus masker (that I could actually hear), for over 12 months, since suffering Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in February 2014. The NHS, Specsavers and even The Tinnitus Clinic in Harley Street were unable to help me. I was beginning to despair.
You were the first person to actually sit and listen to me and understand what I needed and then together, we decided on the best hearing aid option.
I am really pleased with my Phonak Audio V90 aid, it is really comfortable to wear and after just a few days, my Tinnitus has already noticeably improved.
I would definitely recommend you to everyone.
Many, many thanks
